Independence Transition Academy – South Kingston School District
Part of the South Kingston School District, ITA is a multifaceted, community based program. Designed to meet the needs of students with diverse disabilities between the ages of 18-21, this program prepares students for the transition from the school system to becoming successfully independent citizens within the community.

J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center
This Early Intervention program provides services and support to children, aged zero-three, who are at high risk of developmental disabilities. At no cost to the families it serves, the center is able to work with children alongside their parents and caregivers to create an individual program to promote the child’s development. CSPD provides comprehensive meeting planning services to URI faculty and staff for the delivery of noncredit programs to a diverse audience. Services Provided:

Hearing Testing: A full range of audiological testing of both adults and children, including routine hearing testing, OAE, and ABR.

Hearing Aids: Full hearing aid services, including testing, dispensing of hearing aids, troubleshooting and hearing aid repair. Pricing for hearing aids purchased through our clinic is competitive.

Aural Rehabilitation
: Individual and group sessions for persons with aural rehabilitation needs, speech services for hearing impaired persons, speech reading, adapting to hearing aids, care and maintenance of hearing aids.

Speech-Language Evaluations
: Complete speech and language assessments of adults and children involve comprehensive testing and reporting of results. Areas include the evaluation of articulation/phonology (speech sound) disorders, oral and written language disorders, stuttering, and voice disorders.

Speech-Language Therapy
: Ongoing therapy for all speech and language disorders with both adults and children. Sessions range from once to twice weekly and may be individual or group.

Adult Neurogenic Clinic
: Speech/language and cognitive therapy for adults with Neurological disorders following stroke or traumatic brain injury.

The URI Physical Therapy Program provides a three-year master’s degree program, enrolling 60 students in research-oriented professional entry-level curriculum. Blackstone Valley Apartment Program
The BLACKSTONE VALLEY APARTMENT PROGRAM is a semi-independent living program operating under the Blackstone Valley Chapter of Arc. This program has been designed to support people with MR/DD who are living in the community either in an apartment or family situation. The main goal of the program is to help people to become as independent as possible by building natural supports in the community that will insure the consumer’s continual growth and development. The program currently supports in excess of 100 people who are successfully living and working in the community with such supports.

Childspan is Rhode Island’s child development and education training system. The mission of Childspan is to enhance the professional development of all those individuals serving children birth through school age to ensure availability of high-quality childcare and education services for Rhode Island children and their families. The Mental Health Association of Rhode Island (MHARI), was founded in 1916 as the State’s first mental health advocacy group. MHARI is private not-for-profit organization whose mission is to advocate for the promotion of mental health, the prevention of mental illness. In addition to advocacy, MHARI provides statewide educational forums and research-based position statements regarding mental health issues and services.

Prevent Child Abuse Rhode Island is a non profit organization committed to preventing one of the most severe problems our children face – child abuse and neglect. The Rhode Island Council on Alcoholism and Other Drug Dependence (RICAODD) is a private and non-profit corporation, whose mission is to help any individuals and families throughout Rhode Island whose lives are adversely affected by alcoholism, tobacco and other drug dependence. Through our 24-hour toll-free Alcohol, Tobacco and Drug Helpline (1-800-622-7422) we answer questions, guide people, provide an information and referral service, help educate and prevent the misuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.
